30,000 Aeroplan points free - enough for 2 domestic flights

The American Express® AeroplanPlus®* Gold Card has to be the best Aeroplan card out there. Earn 30,000 points for signing up using the following link (otherwise you only earn 25,000 points):

30,000 Aeroplan points is enough for up to 2 short haul round trip North American flights. Plus, the card allows you to earn Aeroplan points through referrals.

Other Aeroplan cards like the TD Aeroplan Infinite only give you 15,000 bonus sign up points.

The ins and outs of the AMEX AeroplanPlus Gold Card:

  • First year fee ($120) waived. Cancel the card  and still keep all your Aeroplan points in your Aeroplan account
  • It is a charge card, not a credit card so your credit rating will be minimally affected
  • No spending limit
  • Spend $500 on the card in the first 3 months and 30,000 Aeroplan points will be deposited into your account
  • Refer somebody and earn an additional 10,000 points for each referral! (great feature)

If you don't understand how much Aeroplan points are worth, a good estimate is 10,000 points = approximately CAD$200. That's around how much Aeroplan will charge you to purchase points directly from them.

Why collect Aeroplan points:

It is one of the best air miles plans out there. There are no blackout periods and taxes and fees are reasonable.

It takes 75,000 points to get you a round trip ticket to almost anywhere in Asia + around $150 in taxes. Sign up for the card and all you have to do is refer 4.5 people to the same card and you're off to a  $1000+ ticket to Asia for only $150.

If you fancy business class, it is 150,000 points + around $150 taxes for a round trip to Asia. This is amazing value as business class usually sets you back by $3-4K!

You can also add multiple cities to your trip at no extra cost, so if you like travelling around a region, this is a great program to use.

There are many promotions with Aeroplan. For instance, I recently test drove a Volvo with a couple friends in the car and we all earned 2,500 Aeroplan points just for driving it around the block.
